Good morning, dear readers and neighbors! Today, I want to delve into a topic that often brings a smile to my face, one that I believe deserves more global recognition: the absolute deliciousness of fried ripe plantains, affectionately known as ‘dodo’. I once stumbled upon a whimsical quote suggesting that perhaps the most glorious moment in human history was when a perfectly ripe slice of plantain first met hot oil. While a bold claim, it certainly captures the transformative magic of this simple dish. Do you, like me, find yourself nodding in agreement, or at least appreciating the sentiment behind such an assertion? The unique blend of sweet and savory, with a slightly caramelized exterior, truly makes it a culinary marvel.
Speaking of things that bring a spark of joy, I recently embraced a wonderfully motivating practice: compiling a ‘done list.’ Far more empowering than a traditional to-do list, a done list focuses on accomplishments, big or small, offering a tangible record of progress and dedication. It’s a fantastic way to reflect on the effort expended and the milestones achieved, providing a much-needed boost of motivation. So, without further ado, let’s take a journey through my past week, chronicling the moments that made it uniquely mine.
Monday: A Triple Threat of Content Creation
My week kicked off with what felt like a marathon of content creation. I successfully wrote and published three distinct blog posts, leaving me utterly exhausted yet incredibly satisfied. This wasn’t merely a burst of inspiration; it was a commitment to my editorial calendar. Firstly, my recurring Monday feature, “Here’s What’s Up,” is a weekly staple on the blog. It’s designed to give you, my cherished community, a glimpse into my world, sharing updates, reflections, and upcoming plans. Crafting this piece requires not just recounting events but shaping them into an engaging narrative that resonates. Secondly, I’ve made a dedicated effort to roll out a new recipe every Monday. This past Monday, I was thrilled to unveil my truly amazing yogurt cake recipe. Developing and testing recipes is a labor of love, ensuring each one is perfect before sharing it with you all. However, this particular week, my body sent a clear signal that a slight adjustment was needed; as the saying goes, “body no bi firewood” (meaning, one’s body isn’t made of wood and needs rest). Thus, my subsequent recipe for the week was gently nudged to Tuesday. Thirdly, and very importantly, last Monday coincided with World Diabetes Day. To mark this significant health awareness event, I dedicated a special list post to five healthy and delicious recipes specifically curated to help in the fight against diabetes. This piece was particularly close to my heart, aiming to provide practical, accessible, and tasty options for those managing or preventing the condition.
Tuesday: Educational Adventures and Empowerment
Tuesday brought a delightful change of pace as I took my girls out for another enriching field trip to the iconic Mall of America. This wasn’t just a shopping excursion; it was an opportunity for exploration, observation, and learning in a bustling, dynamic environment. From window shopping to people-watching, and even a little playtime, these trips offer a wonderful blend of fun and real-world education. Navigating such a large venue with young children is always an adventure, requiring patience and keen observational skills, but the joy on their faces makes every effort worthwhile. In addition to our family outing, Tuesday also marked the culmination of my four-week series specifically designed for single ladies. This series was a passion project, offering insights, encouragement, and practical advice on various aspects of single life, from personal growth to navigating relationships and building a fulfilling future. The feedback received was incredibly heartwarming, affirming the need for such supportive content.
Wednesday: Culinary Creations and Photographic Feasts
Wednesday was a deep dive into the heart of my culinary world. The day was meticulously planned for cooking, baking, and capturing stunning food photos for the blog. This process is far more involved than simply preparing a meal; it’s about crafting visually appealing dishes that tell a story and entice readers to try them in their own kitchens. Lighting, composition, and styling all play crucial roles in transforming a delicious dish into a captivating photograph. Amidst all the culinary activity, I embarked on a new baking adventure: I baked an apple pie for the very first time! The experience was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. From peeling and slicing countless apples to perfecting the lattice crust, every step was a learning curve. The aroma filling the kitchen was absolutely divine, and the satisfaction of pulling a golden-brown, bubbling pie from the oven was immense. It’s moments like these, trying something new and seeing it come to fruition, that truly ignite my passion for cooking and sharing recipes.
Thursday: Spreading Joy Through Video Content
Thursday was all about expanding my reach and connecting with my audience through video. I proudly published a brand new video on both my YouTube channel and Facebook page. Creating video content is a different beast compared to writing blog posts; it involves scripting, filming, editing, and ensuring the final product is engaging and informative. The effort that goes into each video is considerable, but the reward comes from the direct engagement and the wonderful feedback from viewers. I was incredibly touched by all the love and support shown in the comments and shares. It’s truly encouraging to know that my efforts resonate with you all, and it fuels my desire to create even more valuable and inspiring content.
Friday: The Star of the Dinner Table – Roast Chicken
Friday brought a much-anticipated culinary reveal: my perfected whole roast chicken recipe made its grand appearance on the blog. If you’ve ever dreamt of serving a show-stopping bird that is not only tender and juicy but also bursting with flavor, then this recipe is an absolute must-try. Especially with the upcoming season of celebrations and gatherings, mastering the art of a flavorful roast chicken can truly elevate your culinary game and bring a touch of stardom to your dinner table. I poured a lot of love and experimentation into developing this recipe, ensuring it guides you to achieve that perfect golden-brown skin, succulent meat, and aromatic herbs that will impress even the most discerning palates. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience, a centerpiece designed to bring people together and create lasting memories around delicious food.
Saturday: The Unseen Hustle and a Heroic Rescue
Saturday began like many weekend days at home with young children – a seemingly endless loop of moving from one room to another, tackling various tasks, and at the end of the day, sometimes feeling as if little had been definitively accomplished beyond the constant rhythm of caring for a crying toddler. The invisible labor of motherhood is real, encompassing everything from tidying up to endless cuddles, and often goes unrecorded on a traditional to-do list. However, this is a ‘done list,’ so I must acknowledge the profound accomplishment of rocking my little one to sleep, providing comfort and peace. But Saturday had a twist! What started as a “bleh” day quickly transformed into an unexpected adventure. I actually drove a solid 30 minutes to rescue Mr. N after he inadvertently got locked out of his car. The rush to get there, the problem-solving, and the eventual success of getting him back into his vehicle provided a much-needed jolt of adrenaline, injecting excitement into an otherwise quiet day. It was a stark reminder that even on seemingly ordinary days, unexpected moments can arise, calling us to action and reminding us of our capacity to help and problem-solve.
Sunday: Faith, Fellowship, and Family
Sunday was a beautiful blend of spiritual nourishment and social connection. Our church service delivered a powerful message about the profound importance of “keeping your hands up,” drawing a compelling parallel from the biblical story of Moses. During the Israelites’ battle with the Amalekites, a fascinating pattern emerged: each time Moses kept his hands raised in prayer and intercession, the Israelites prevailed. Conversely, whenever his hands grew weary and dropped, they began to lose ground. This narrative served as an incredibly potent reminder for all of us: to navigate life’s battles and make it through challenging times, we, too, must metaphorically “keep our hands up.” This concept beautifully translates into the practice of praying without ceasing, maintaining an unwavering connection with God even when answers seem distant or unheard. It underscores the vital truth that we should never abandon prayer, no matter how daunting or hopeless a situation may feel. Furthermore, the sermon highlighted the indispensable value of community – having trusted individuals who can pray with you, uplift you, and share the burden of life’s struggles. Nurturing these relationships, providing and receiving mutual support, is a cornerstone of resilience and faith. I truly cherish these moments of collective worship and spiritual growth; I absolutely love church!
Later that Sunday, the day continued with joy and celebration as I attended a lovely baby shower, sharing in the excitement and anticipation of new life. It’s always a heartwarming experience to witness friends and family embarking on this incredible journey of parenthood. After the festivities, a brief but necessary grocery shopping trip ensued, replenishing our home with essentials before the week ahead. By the time I finally returned home, it was with a sense of happy exhaustion, ready to simply collapse and recharge after such a full and meaningful day.
Looking Ahead: My Plans for the Upcoming Week
That encapsulates the rich tapestry of my last seven days. This week promises to be equally dynamic and fulfilling. In addition to my regular rhythm of blogging, homeschooling my wonderful girls, cooking delicious meals, and, of course, enjoying them, I have some exciting new ventures on the horizon. I will be making special visits to two new mothers, offering support, encouragement, and perhaps a warm meal – a small gesture of solidarity in the beautiful, challenging journey of early motherhood. Furthermore, my schedule includes dedicated time for filming new content for my YouTube channel, ensuring I continue to bring fresh and engaging videos to my growing audience.
Speaking of YouTube, mark your calendars! I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I will be publishing a brand new cooking video this Saturday. It’s been a project I’ve poured a lot of energy into, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. To build up the excitement, I’ll be putting up a tantalizing video trailer on my Facebook page sometime within the week. This will give you a sneak peek into what’s coming. Then, the full, eagerly anticipated video will be officially uploaded to my YouTube channel on Saturday. So, be sure to stay tuned across all my platforms for these exciting updates and the final video release!
